Anastasia Zavitsanou, Ph.D.

Anastasia Zavitsanou is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Abdus-Saboor lab at Columbia’s Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute. She is focused on understanding the somatosensory and viscerosensory circuits involved in pain and pleasure. With a background in tumor immunology and a passion for exploring how sensory systems influence behavior, her research integrates cancer biology, neuroscience, electrical engineering, and advanced computational tools. Beyond her lab work, Anastasia is dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion in science and is committed to making complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging to the public through effective science communication.
